Municipal Affairs, Edmonton - Are you passionate about ensuring good government in Alberta? Are you a leader with skills you want to use to support better community planning and enhanced inter-municipal relationships? Reporting to the Executive Director of the Municipal Services Branch, you will lead a team that carries out research and recommendations on municipal and regional planning issues, provides advice to municipalities on local and regional planning matters, and offers tools to assist municipalities in developing local solutions to local disputes.

Your knowledge of Alberta's municipal sector, the principles of sound community planning, and effective dispute resolution techniques and approaches, will be major factors in ensuring the success of the Planning and Dispute Resolution team. You will be expected to apply your skills and knowledge in a complex and evolving environment, working with staff, peers, and key stakeholders, to collect and analyze information, to make policy recommendations, and to assist in developing and implementing new policies and initiatives.

Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, exceptional written and oral communication skills and strong personal organization and project management skills are needed to ensure success in this role.

Qualifications: A Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Political Science or another related discipline, is required; a Master's degree is an asset, as is certification in a planning discipline and/or dispute resolution. Extensive directly related government experience, provincial or municipal, in policy development, strategic planning or project management is desirable. Equivalencies will be considered.
