MUNICIPAL DISTRICT OF BONNYVILLE No. 87
Chief Administrative Officer (CAO)

The M.D. of Bonnyville is one of the fastest growing rural municipalities in Alberta and is situated right in the heart of prime agricultural land and growing oilfield development.  Just over two hours northeast of Edmonton, and one of the largest and diversified municipalities in Alberta, the M.D. of Bonnyville encompasses the areas around the City of Cold Lake, Town of Bonnyville and the Village of Glendon.  Its economic strength is threefold and founded on a diversified agricultural industry, military and civilian services, and major oil sands and petroleum resource developments.

The CAO reports to the Council and is responsible for the overall administrative leadership, planning, organizing, service delivery and evaluation of the M.D. operations in accordance with the objectives, programs, policies and bylaws approved by the M.D. Council.  In addition, the CAO also ensures that the municipality is managed within the Municipal Government Act and the Statutes of the Province of Alberta and Canada.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an ability to provide and maintain excellence in relationships with staff, residents and visitors to the M.D.  The talent to recognize, appreciate and foster a balance for conflicting development and environmental interests is crucial, as is the ability to focus on attracting new people and businesses to the area.

Applicants must have proven management experience in municipal government supported by formal training in public administration.  A degree in business or public administration or a professional designation in local government would be considered an asset.  The successful candidate will have highly developed interpersonal, communication and public relation skills and have demonstrated success in building productive and effective management teams.

The incumbent is expected to be in place by June 1, 2008, or as negotiated.

All interested candidates are invited to submit their confidential resumes by April 16, 2008 to Ed Rondeau, Reeve, M.D. of Bonnyville, 4905 – 50 Ave., Bag 1010, Bonnyville, Alberta T9N 2J7.
