TOWN OF BOWDEN
CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER

Conveniently located on Highway 2, this community of approximately 1,200 people is located 25 minutes south of Red Deer and 50 minutes north of Calgary. The Town has benefited from Alberta’s strong economy with a 16% population growth over the last five years. Future growth remains positive as the Town has begun working with a developer to add over 200 new residential lots.
                          
Bowden offers an enviable quality of life for all ages. The Bowden Grandview School continues to achieve high academic standards. An abundance of parks and new playgrounds offer families recreational opportunities right at their doorstep. Residents have several choices of medical facilities located within 10 minutes, at the Town in Olds or Innisfail, and a first class facility in Red Deer 25 minutes away. For seniors, the Town has two manors offering affordable housing and, with regular trips in the community van, easy access to many regional amenities.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in local government management along with post secondary education in a related discipline and/or certified, or in the process of completing certification, in local government management.
  • Proven ability to create and lead a participative workplace environment with a cohesive team that promotes and sustains a productive workplace and excellent customer service.
  • The capability of adapting to and developing a presence in a rural community with the demonstrated ability to communicate and deal effectively with the public, to work collaboratively with Council, and to build partnerships in the community and surrounding area while effectively representing the interests of the Town.
  • The ability to provide overall leadership for economic/community development strategies to attract and retain business and residents.
  • Good knowledge of municipal finances and overall financial acumen with proven budget development experience.
  • Adeptness at sourcing and securing grants.
  • Proficiency with all current related information technology.
