Under direction of the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Community Services will direct and actively participate in the development and administration of the overall planning implementation and control of all recreational, cultural, preventive social services and tourist services as it applies to community recreation and culture operations in accordance with the objectives, policies and plans.

• Direct and manage the work of the department through recreation, preventative social services, culture and economic development.
• Plan, coordinate and supervise the activities of the recreation, preventative social services, culture and tourism staff
• Liaise with community boards; identify, facilitate and oversee community development opportunities and activities; develop customer focused strategies and operational plans.

Qualifications:

• A wide range of skills in program delivery and the ability to work with a variety of community organizations in various capacities is required
• Considerable knowledge of public relations, community development, recreation, preventative social services marketing and promotion is required.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities effectively and meet deadlines.
• Post Secondary Degree in a related discipline
• Five year related experience preferably in a municipal setting
• Must have extensive experience with computers and considerable knowledge and ability in business principles
• Must wok well with the public; in person, telephone or mail
