FULL-TIME PERMANENT POSITION, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
Reporting directly to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Finance is responsible for all aspects of the financial operations of the Town of High Level in accordance with the Province of Alberta Municipal Government Act and all related Town Bylaws.
As an integral member of the senior management team, the Director of Finance is responsible for the management of all general accounting, operating & capital budgeting processes as well as the assessment and taxation functions for the municipality. This includes assisting Administration in preparing and directing a budget in excess of $15 million for four municipal departments (Operations, Protective Services, Finance/Administration, & Community Services) and producing annual Financial Statements in accordance with the requirements and deadlines of AB Municipal Affairs.
This is a challenging full-time, permanent position with an exceptional benefits package. Salary will be dependant upon qualifications and experience, ranging from $71,230 to $87,144 per annum. Relocation expenses are also available for the successful applicant.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Preference will be given to those applicants having achieved, or working towards, the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce and/or professional designation as CGA or CMA, or senior standing in a recognized accounting program
- Enrolment in, or completion of, a Certificate in Local Government studies
- Eligibility for membership with LGAA or GFOA
- Preference will be given to those applicants with:
- Several years experience in an accounting and office environment with two (2) years experience in a senior Local Government accounting capacity, preferably in Alberta.
- Experience in a senior supervisory capacity.
- Competency with Microsoft programs and customized municipal accounting software, preferably Diamond Software.
- Superior interpersonal, written and oral communications skills and a consultative management style.
