Kneehill County has an opportunity in their Administration Department as Financial Services Director to lead and develop corporate direction and address strategic challenges in a rural environment. Reporting to the CAO, the Director will be responsible for the financial service activities in compliance with the MGA and municipal policies. As an integral member of the senior management team, the Director will provide critical advice and guidance to the CAO, department heads and Council.
Your key initiatives include:
- Plan, organize and manage the Financial Services Department including finance, accounting, payroll, taxation, IT and records management;
- Prepare and implement short and long-term goals and objectives consistent with Council’s Strategic Plans;
- Prepare the annual budget and financial statements;
- Develop and implement financial controls, manage investments, project costing, risk, records management practices and tangible capital assets
We are looking for:
- An accounting designation or graduation from an accredited program plus five years related experience.
- Knowledge of current financial practices specifically those related to the public sector
- Proven management, supervisory, analytical, time management, prioritization, negotiation and computer skills
- Familiarity with Muniware software is a definite asset
