LAC LA BICHE COUNTY
Manager of Planning and Development

Lac La Biche County is located in the North East region of Alberta.  The County is supported by a mixture of agriculture, oil and gas industry, forestry and it has an abundance of recreational opportunities and cultural amenities.

The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead the Planning and Development team in areas of land use planning as specified by the County’s Municipal Development Plan.
  • Oversee the development and subdivision sections of the department and coordinate the planning activities of the department.
  • Preparation of department budget for submission to the Director of Corporate Services.  Monitors budget expenditures and reports any variances.
  • Attends and presents items with recommendations to all Municipal Planning Commission meetings, Council meetings and Policy and Priorities Committee meetings.
  • Responsible for presentations to County Council to inform on current and future land use planning requirements.
  • Attends and presents at all Subdivision and Development Appeal Board hearings to represent the position of the Subdivision Authority.
  • Responsible for special planning related projects (Area Structure Plans, Intermunicipal Development Plans, etc.)
  • Development and implementation of a long range Municipal Development Plan.

The preferred candidate would have the following qualifications:

  • Post Secondary education in Land Use Planning.
  • 3 – 5 years in a senior management position.
  • Experience in a municipal setting would be an asset.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • An aptitude for planning and organizing work in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Pre-employment medical assessment, criminal records check, driver’s abstract.

Lac La Biche County offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package.  Salary Range:  $76,891.87 - $92,864.73 per annum.
