TOWN OF RAINBOW LAKE
Public Works Maintenance III

The Town of Rainbow Lake, Alberta is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Public Works Maintenance III.  The position is primarily a working position with some supervisory responsibilities and reports to the Public Works Foreman.

Duties including but not limited to the following:

  • Conducting routine maintenance of the airport as required by legislation, policy or standard operating procedures.
  • Assisting with the operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant in accordance with the code of practice issued by Alberta Environment.
  • Assisting with the operation and maintenance of the wastewater system in accordance with the code of practice issued by Alberta Environment
  • Assisting with repairs to the water and sewer underground piping system
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance programs
  • Operating heavy and light equipment used to maintain the airport and public roadways such as plow truck, grader, loader and backhoe.
  • Assisting with the installation and repair of the gas utility system
  • Preparing operating reports for the public works function
  • Assisting with the preparation and monitoring of the operating budget
  • Maintaining  maintenance logs as required by the Public Works Foreman
  • Reporting to the Public Works Foreman all matters of staff or public safety
  • Assuming responsibility for the Public Works Foreman duties when the Public Works Foreman is not available.

The ideal candidate will be a self motivated individual and will have:

  •  A minimum of grade 12 or equivalency diploma
  • water treatment, water distribution, wastewater treatment, wastewater collection Certification from Alberta Environment
  • A valid Alberta Class 3 drivers license
  • Working knowledge of computer based control systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience supervising staff and contractors in a municipal environment
  • Knowledge of best practices and experience in the repair and maintenance of municipal utility systems.
  • Experience in the operation of equipment used to maintain roadways (grader, plow truck, loader and backhoe)
  • Mature interpersonal and written communications skills
  • Well developed organizational skills

The Town offers a competitive salary, and a full range of benefits including housing allowance.
Salary is commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the applicant.

Consideration will be given to applicants with lesser qualifications to be employed at a lower level.
