Municipal District of Wainwright No. 61 ACCOUNTANT

The M.D. of Wainwright No. 61 invites applications for the full-time position of an Accountant with an accredited accounting designation.

The Accountant will be responsible for all municipal accounting functions.  The successful applicant will prepare and implement the operating and capital budget.  This position will also provide support in the development, coordination and implementation of the Public Accounting Board’s new requirement for Tangible Capital Assets.  This will include recording fixed asset transactions including acquisition, amortization and disposal on an on going basis.

Qualifications:

• Professional designation in Accounting  (CGA, CMA, CA)
• Knowledge of municipal accounting finances – related legislation and regulations including the Municipal Government Act
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills
• Computer Experience (AS400//Microsoft Office)
• Certificate in Local Government is an asset
• Experience in municipal finance is preferred
