The County of Paintearth No. 18 is a progressive rural municipality in East Central Alberta. The County is proud to boast a strong working relationship with the energy sector. The County of Paintearth’s relationships with our urban partners (Village of Halkirk, Town of Castor, and Town of Coronation) is exceptional as currently the partnership has embarked on an $11 million water reservoir and transmission main project. The County is very excited to be relocating to a new administration building at the intersection of Highways 36 and 12 at the beginning of September. This development is the anchor tenant for a 77 acre commercial subdivision named Crowfoot Crossing. The fall of 2010, Greengate Power Corporation will commence the construction of phase 1 of 2, 83 unit wind farm in the County. As you can see, the Paintearth Region is progressive with many opportunities.
The County of Paintearth is seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable person to join our management team as the Director of Corporate Services. The Director of Corporate Services serves as a member of the County Senior Management Team; oversees financial administration for the County (including payroll and benefits, taxation, accounts payable and receivable); provides financial administration assistance for related entities (East Central Ambulance Association, Paintearth Regional Waste Management, Paintearth Economic Partnership Society); oversees GIS/GPS, mapping, County website and support for County computer systems and users; FOIPP Coordinator, Risk Control Coordinator, Records Management Administrator; and performs related duties.
The ideal candidate would possess a recognized Accounting Designation (CMA, CGA) preferred, supplemented with 5 or more years in an accounting-related position with a rural municipal government; experience in a leadership role, general knowledge of municipal accounting practices, and equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent organizational, analytical and presentation skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, well developed interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with the public. Working knowledge and experience with Windows and MS Office applications as well as Muniware software. A Certificate in Local Government Administration is desirable. Valid Alberta Drivers license – Class 5. The salary range for this professional position is $79,500 to $95,000 per annum with an excellent benefits package.
